Craft Projects We Quietly Abandon (for my crafty friends)

You open a closet or bin and you see those abandoned craft projects. You immediately feel triggered? Sometimes it’s because there are memories in there you’d rather not revisit. This happened to me. And……
Sometimes it’s because you spent a lot of money on the items and know you won’t get it back.
Or maybe it’s supplies for a project that never quite manifested.

I was looking for some beads for a craft project I was doing with my grands during March Break. I opened the bin and was met with the remnants of projects I had started years ago and then abandoned.

It was a little jarring to see all of the beads, trinkets and supplies I had purchased and now it just all sits in this bin unfinished. Somewhere along the way, I lost the inspiration to keep going. And I understand now why I felt uncomfortable continuing back then.

Those unfinished objects are emotionally draining. We might not really be thinking too much about them. But they are there, quietly taking up space and energy. They might be those someday projects but when is someday.

I remember someone in one of our groups saying “Someday is not a day”.

But at this point, I think the kindest thing I can do is to be honest with myself and decide:
Do I want to continue… or not?

Can you relate to this?

Maybe it’s craft projects. Maybe books you meant to read. Maybe something else that’s been sitting unfinished and quietly taking up space.

Sometimes clutter isn’t just stuff.
It’s a story waiting for us to decide how it ends
